Powered by WP Greet Box WordPress PluginIf you’ve read many articles on modesty, no doubt eventually you’ll read someone in the comments of the article that says something to this effect:

I don’t see why I have to worry about modesty. Since it’s guys that have the problem, they just need to learn self control. I certainly don’t have a problem.

And on the face of it, there seems to be a good bit of logic behind this argument. I mean, there are few articles or statements regarding modesty. You don’t find as much apparel geared to wooing the woman… and therein lies an interesting point indeed.

The Clothing Options Tell The Story
If you were to do a survey of your local mall, how many of those shops are dedicated entirely toward women’s clothing? How about a majority toward women’s clothing?

Now, of the stores that are dedicated to women’s clothing, how many of those stores are dedicated to women’s undergarments? How many toward dresses or modest clothing?

If you look at the current culture, a majority of the clothing is focused on showing off the female body, either partially or as much as possible.

    But Why?

    Consider the Advertisements
When they wanted to come up with something to attract guys attention away from the Super Bowl—one of the most watched sporting events by males—what did they come up with besides the commercials? The lingerie bowl. Why? Because they knew that they could get men to switch channels to watch women play the game in their underwear.

When Victoria’s Not-So-Secret sends out catalogues to the homes that include air brushed models, who are they trying to get? I’ll give you a hint, it’s not just the women. In fact, part of their business model was/is to build stores that men would not feel out of place in.

It turns out that the women we mention in the beginning are the only ones that really believe that men should control what they see. In every other venue, they’re either counting on the fact that they will not, or hoping that they will not.

If They Were to Tell the Truth…
There are very few people, I believe, that do not want attention. Wearing revealing or flirtatious attire definitely gets one form of attention. I mean, just look at any of the social websites (Facebook, Flickr, Chatroulette, WebCams, etc.) and what you’ll find is that each of these have young “ladies” that are showing themselves off in exchange for attention.

What they are really saying is that they don’t want specific male attention. Good attention is when the “hot” guy is looking at you. Bad is when the “nerd” is looking at you. And since they believe they’ll get the “hot” guy’s attention, how dare you judge them.

    The Consequences
What happens, though, is that they begin to wrap up their self worth and begin to define themselves by the looks that they get. If they no longer got those looks, the thinking goes, then they would not be worth anything. And no one likes to feel worthless.

What has happened is that they’ve begun to sell themselves short. They’ve exchanged who they are for what they are. They now see themselves as just a girl with natural feminine features—many of which they have no control over (or they try to exert control over via surgery or dangerous habits.

And that is truly the saddest part of this—that women will go to such great lengths to preserve the attention that they are getting and many have ended up in such terrible straights, when the solution was always so close at hand.

Powered by WP Greet Box WordPress PluginI went shopping the other day. Shopping malls are always a difficult ordeal. Wading through the mess of unattractive, unfeminine, and immodest clothes to find a handful of pieces that fit the necessary criteria is hard enough. Then add the trial of finding something at a decent price on top of that, and you (or I at any rate) leave the giant complex with one, maybe two pieces at most!

Sometimes it feels good to just give in and say, “Oh, I’ll just buy this one piece. Honestly, how much harm can a shirt with a kind of…rather…really low neckline do?” But this is not what God wants. We shouldn’t shop with a “how-far-can-I-go-without-going-over-the-line” attitude. Rather, we should approach clothes shopping with questions like these: “What could cause my brothers in Christ to stumble, and how do I avoid that?” and more importantly, “How does what I wear glorify God, and how can I come closer to that?” Instead of buying clothes with a “me-first” mentality, we need (as it is with everything) to switch our minds over to a “God-first” mentality.

“Likewise, I want women to adorn themselves with proper clothing, modestly and discreetly, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly garments, but rather by means of good works, as is proper for women making a claim to godliness.” (1 Timothy 2:9-10)

    Sincerely,

My Will Be Done On Earth As It Is In Hell« Obama’s iPod, my messagesVoter Issue Guide on the way »An urgent call to inaction
My servants, I don’t like prayer, at least not prayer to you-know-who. A believer’s prayer to you-know-who can tear my kingdom to pieces.

I know many of you are weak, and find yourself praying from time to time. But if ever there was a time to not pray, please do not pray now, and please do not pray for an event that has the potential to do great and lasting damage to my kingdom.

The event in question is one that has kept me up nights for weeks now. At first I was going to ignore it as just another ineffective feel-good get-together of busybody Christians. But the prayer volume began in great earnest some days ago, and based on that alone I realized that this will be no ordinary week for me and mine.

I’m speaking, with some trepidation, and only for the purpose of aligning my faithful to inaction, of the Third International Congress on World Evangelization in Lausanne that kicked off today in Cape Town, South Africa, and ends on October 25th.

This weekend and the next few days will be unusually hectic for me as we scramble to neutralize any efforts of a large band of enemy combatants–over 4,000 leaders from more than 200 countries who intend to confront the critical issues of our time – other world faiths, poverty, HIV/AIDS, persecution, among others – as they relate to the future of the Church and world evangelization.

Critical issues is right! Everything on their list is an issue I love and embrace and wish to see continued unabated. So, my servants, we must not aid the enemy in his efforts.

The prayer event is explained in this article at Mission News Network, entitled, ”World changers to meet in Cape Town to talk strategy.”

Now ordinarily, “world changers” are on my side, and I am excited to help them. But these “world changers” are not on my side, and I’m excited to oppose them. According to this article, this conference is:

. . . a picture of the body of Christ, united in making His name central. That’s a driving force behind Cape Town 2010, the Third Lausanne Congress on World Evangelization. It’s a ten-day gathering that begins October 16.

The body of Christ! On earth?

This is dangerous to my kingdom, my servants. What you need to know is that in past meetings major ministry directions, like the 10/40 Window, got defined. And that insight of Christ’s body alone caused anguish and gnashing of teeth down here as previously unreached captives began to be set free.

My servants, setting captives free is exactly what I oppose with all my might. Please help me here by remembering to NOT pray for this gathering. If you are weak, and find yourself praying some mealy-mouth prayer out of habit, at least do not mention this conference or any of the people involved.

Here is a specific non-prayer request: I’ve already been successful in blocking a delegation from one of the most troublesome hot spots of the gospel: China. An article entitled, “Chinese Christians blocked from world evangelization conference” quotes Bob Fu, the China analyst for Voice of the Martyrs USA and the founder of China Aid Association:

At least 21 Lausanne delegates in Beijing were prevented from going. Most of them, among the 200, were all blocked from either the airport or even in their homes, under house arrest.”

    Ha ha ha ha ha!

Blocked! By me! (Why don’t I ever get credit in print?)

But there is no rest for the wicked! Fu is calling for action:

Fu also urges believers to “pray for their family members, and pray that they will stand firm on the Gospel and without compromising their faith.”

So, my servants, I call for inaction. We must counter prayers with non-prayers and negative, hateful thoughts. You do your part, and I will do mine.

And my will be done in Cape Town as it is in Hell

Pro-Life Exorcist: “Never in All of History Have We Seen Evil Promoted So Effectively”

    By John-Henry Westen

WASHINGTON, June 14, 2010 (LifeSiteNews.com) - “Satan is normally ‘hidden’ … but nowadays he is walking tall in powerful structures of sin like abortion, pornography, sex slavery, rapacious greed and terrorism,” writes pro-life leader, Catholic priest and exorcist Reverend Thomas J. Euteneuer in his new book, Exorcism and the Church Militant.

The devil, says the President of Human Life International, “flexes his muscles” with “pernicious ideologies like radical feminism and ‘pro-choice’ extremism, the militant homosexual movement and the aggressive mass media which is the ministry of propaganda for Satan and all his works and all his empty promises.”

Father Euteneuer has conducted exorcisms in several dioceses around the United States and spoken to thousands of people on the subject.

In the newly released book, Fr. Euteneuer warns: “Never in all of history have we seen evil promoted so effectively and the true good so roundly mocked and rejected as in this age of extreme technological prowess.” He explains, “the difference between the modern world and past generations is that Satan has a greater ability to use groups and institutions for increasing his wicked reach into human life and society.”

Far from hidden, suggests the exorcist, “Nowadays, objective evil is displayed out in the open air with impunity, celebrated in the public forum and strategized in plush board rooms.”

Fr. Euteneuer presents the case that “the devil's spiritual warfare on our flocks will intensify as the years proceed and that all Christians, but especially priests, will have no choice but to engage more deeply in the spiritual battle for souls.”

“The devil now,” he warns, “arrogates to himself the right to control the totality of human existence even in so-called free societies: from manipulating the very act of creation (in vitro fertilization, cloning, Human Genome); to the authority over life and death (abortion, embryonic stem cell research, euthanasia); to the definition of human sexuality and marriage (birth control, divorce, homosexual unions); to the very prospect of human annihilation (nuclear war, genocide and the impending New World Order). “

Along with Exorcism and the Church Militant, Father Euteneuer is also releasing Demonic Abortion, the first of two companion works. This 120-page booklet is a meditation on the evil nature of the abortion industry, from the perspective of a priest and exorcist who has been fighting in the pro-life trenches around the world for well over a decade. With a release date of July 7, 2010, Demonic Abortion is now available for pre-order.
